Sydney, May 20 (Australia India News Newsdesk)
In a warm gesture of support and community building, the Consulate General of India in Sydney, in partnership with the Australian Indian Sports, Educational and Cultural Society (AISECS) and the Sydney University Gastrodiplomacy Society, hosted an engaging evening titled ‘Care, Connect and Cuisine’ on May 17, 2025, at the Consulate premises.
The event aimed at welcoming new students from India and creating a space to promote wellbeing, friendship, and cultural connection. Indian students studying across Sydney were invited to an evening that blended care and conversation with the rich flavours of Indian cuisine.
Consul General of India in Sydney, Dr. S. Janakiraman, in his welcome remarks, highlighted the importance of student welfare and the strong support system offered by the Indian community in Australia. He encouraged students to reach out, stay connected, and seek help when needed.
The event featured cultural performances, interactive sessions, and a variety of traditional dishes prepared to reflect the culinary diversity of India — all curated to offer a taste of home while fostering a sense of belonging.
Representatives from AISECS and the Gastrodiplomacy Society shared insights on cultural diplomacy, student support programs, and upcoming initiatives that aim to engage Indian students in educational, cultural, and community activities. Attendees appreciated the inclusive and comforting atmosphere.
The evening concluded with informal networking, laughter, and new friendships, marking a successful effort in connecting hearts over shared meals and meaningful dialogue.
