The Consulate General of India in Sydney organised a successful consular camp in Newcastle on May 17, 2025, offering vital support and services to members of the Indian community living in the Hunter region. The initiative aimed to bring essential consular services closer to residents, including passport renewals, OCI card applications, attestation services, and general consular assistance. The camp was well-attended and appreciated by Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin who often face challenges in accessing such services due to geographical distance.
The event also served as a valuable opportunity to engage with the local Indian community, strengthening the Consulate’s connection with Indian-origin students, professionals, and families living in the Newcastle and Hunter region.
The Consulate expressed its heartfelt thanks to the University India Partnership Advisory Committee and the Vice Chancellor for their continuous support in organising the event and ensuring its smooth execution.
Community members welcomed the outreach effort, noting that it made accessing vital services easier and more efficient. Many attendees also appreciated the chance to raise queries and receive guidance directly from consular officials.
With such camps helping bridge the gap between the Consulate and regional communities, the event marked another step in fostering trust, accessibility, and deeper ties with the Indian diaspora in Australia.
