The Canberra Malayalee Association (CMA) welcomed High Commissioner of India, Gopal Baglay, to their Onam celebrations, where he extended warm wishes to the community on the auspicious festival.
In his remarks, Baglay commended the Indian diaspora for keeping India’s cultural traditions alive in Australia by observing festivals that reflect the nation’s diversity. He noted that such celebrations strengthen the fabric of Australia’s multicultural society by fostering inclusivity and harmony.
The evening was filled with cultural charm, featuring vibrant dance and music performances as well as engaging skits by children, all of which showcased Kerala’s artistic and cultural richness. During the event, the High Commissioner also unveiled Koyyoppu, the new digital magazine of the CMA, marking another milestone for the community group.
