Indian High Commissioner Gopal Baglay, accompanied by Consul General Amarjeet Singh Takhi in Perth and Counsellor Sweety Agarwal at the High Commission of India, Canberra, visited Gurudwara Sahib in Marrara, Darwin, recently. The visit was a part of the High Commissioner’s outreach to the Indian and Indian-origin communities in the Northern Territory.
During the visit, High Commissioner Baglay prayed for the well-being of the Sikh community and other Indian and Indian-origin communities in the Northern Territory. The Gurudwara Sahib, a prominent Sikh place of worship in Darwin, warmly welcomed the High Commissioner and his delegation. The visit was an opportunity to engage with the local Sikh community and show support for their cultural and religious practices.
The High Commissioner interacted with members of the Gurudwara Sahib and expressed his appreciation for their role in promoting Sikh values and traditions. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Sikh community to the broader multicultural landscape of the Northern Territory.
Consul General Amarjeet Singh Takhi and Counsellor Sweety Agarwal also interacted with members of the Sikh community, discussing the unique challenges and opportunities they face in the Northern Territory. They reaffirmed the High Commission’s commitment to supporting the Indian diaspora and promoting cultural exchange between India and Australia.
