More than ten thousand people attended the Punjabi Mela, which was oranised by New England College and Immediate Response Security Services. The mela began before 11am and culminated at ten in the night on March 5 at Rocklea Showgrounds.
Blue Moon Production and Nach Baliye Events roped in singers and performers like Nimrat Khaira, Garry Sandhu, and Ninja.
Mr Anthony Shorten, Member of Parliament for Algester from 2012 to 2015, who was present on the event, wrote on his Facebook account of the day: “I had a great time attending the Punjabi Mela [on March 5]. A fantastic crowd was entertained by great singers and dancers and, of course, a colourful and modern fashion parade by Reena Augustine’s Red Carpet Fashions showcasing Amina Bilal Pira and Athan Jon.”
“Great to catch up with good friends Surendra Prasad, Pinky Singh , Robert Mukombozi and Prakruthi Mysore Gururaj,” he added.
