Perth, January 28 (Australia India News Newsdesk) The Consulate in Perth resonated with the vibrant spirit of India’s 75th Republic Day, where the Indian diaspora and friends of India united in fervent celebration. Among the esteemed guests were veterans of the Indian armed forces, community leaders, business associations, Indian-origin councilors, and students from Curtin University and the University of Western Australia.
Consul General Amarjeet Singh Takhi inaugurated the festivities by unfurling the national flag, followed by the heartfelt reading of Indian President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the nation. The event gained momentum with captivating performances by community members, who showcased their patriotism through song and dance.
A standout moment arrived with the soulful rendition of India’s national anthem on the violin, performed by the talented 8-year-old Sriya Sri. Following suit, 11-year-old Maya Desai from the Bhairavi School of Dance mesmerized the audience with a graceful Bharatnatyam performance. Mitul Patel’s keyboard melodies and Abhishek Mishra’s stirring recitation of his poem titled ‘Desh’ added layers of depth to the cultural tapestry.
The event witnessed a touching tribute from the Sanskriti Seniors, who presented the timeless melody ‘Chodo Kal ki Baatein,’ invoking nostalgia and unity among attendees. The program reached its crescendo with a patriotic dance by students from the University of Western Australia, reflecting the youthful energy and commitment to national pride.
