AIBC backs NSW trade strategy and India business session

The Australia India Business Council (AIBC) has expressed its support for the New South Wales Government’s recently launched Trade and Investment Strategy 2035 and the “Doing Business in India” session held in Sydney.

AIBC National Associate Chair Irfan Malik (MAICD) and members participated in the launch event, hosted by Investment NSW and NSW Minister Anoulack Chanthivong MP. The council has been working closely with Investment NSW, sharing industry insights and highlighting success stories of bilateral business ventures that align with the strategy’s focus on expanding exports, attracting investments, and strengthening local industries.

The strategy supports the NSW Industry Policy and sets goals in areas such as housing, energy transition, and local manufacturing. AIBC welcomed the government’s efforts and pledged its ongoing support for initiatives that encourage trade and investment opportunities with India.

Following the launch, AIBC partnered with Investment NSW for the “Doing Business in India” session, which brought together industry leaders and market experts. The event featured insights from Senior Trade Commissioner to India, Malini Dutt, and focused on business opportunities for NSW enterprises in India’s growing market.

The session, anchored by Sudhir Basavaraju and the Investment NSW India team, featured discussions with Consul General of India in Sydney, Janakiraman Sarvesvaran; Tim Thomas, CEO of the Centre for Australia-India Relations; and Shiraz Engineer of Asialink Business.

Malini Dutt shared examples of NSW businesses that have successfully expanded into India. Irfan Malik also moderated a business panel featuring Rajat Kulshrestha of Space Machines Company, Robert James Bartholomew Manning of SORR India, and Dave Fleming from CSIRO and the Australia-India RISE Accelerator Program.

AIBC reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with Investment NSW and the NSW Government on initiatives that support the trade strategy and help strengthen Australia-India business ties.
