Melbourne, May 30 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

With just 25 days remaining for the 12th International Day of Yoga, the Consulate organised a special yoga and wellness session in Melbourne, promoting mindfulness, fitness and holistic wellbeing among participants.

The session featured a range of yoga practices including stretching exercises, pranayama and meditation techniques aimed at encouraging physical and mental wellness. Participants described the programme as both refreshing and energising, highlighting yoga’s growing popularity as a tool for achieving balance and inner peace.

Organisers said the event formed part of the ongoing countdown celebrations leading up to International Day of Yoga 2026, which is observed globally to promote the ancient Indian practice and its universal message of harmony and healthy living.

Community members attending the session appreciated the initiative and noted the importance of yoga in reducing stress and promoting a healthier lifestyle in today’s fast-paced world.

The Consulate is expected to host and support several more yoga-related activities and community outreach programmes in the lead-up to the International Day of Yoga celebrations next month.
