The Consulate General of India in Brisbane celebrated the International Day of Yoga at the Gold Coast in association with GOPIO Gold Coast, bringing together yoga practitioners, community leaders and members of the Indian diaspora for a community wellness event.
Held under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the programme highlighted the role of yoga in promoting physical, mental and emotional well-being. Participants also took part in meditation and sound healing sessions as part of the event’s holistic wellness activities.
Federal MP Angie Bell and Queensland State Minister Hermann Vorster attended the celebration as chief guests and joined the community in observing the global day dedicated to yoga.
The Consul General commended participants for their enthusiastic involvement and encouraged them to make yoga a part of their daily lives, describing it as an enduring gift from ancient India that continues to benefit people around the world.
