Sydney, June 12 (Australia India News Newsdesk)
A community yoga programme designed for children, youth and adults will be held in Beecroft on June 21 as part of celebrations for the 12th International Day of Yoga, offering participants an opportunity to experience the benefits of yoga in an inclusive and family-friendly setting.
The event is being organised by the Consulate General of India in Sydney and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Sydney, in collaboration with The Art of Living.
Set to take place at the Roselea Community Centre, the programme will feature dedicated sessions tailored to different age groups, enabling participants to engage with yoga practices suited to their needs and abilities.
Children up to 15 years of age will take part in a specially designed session from 9.30 am to 10.30 am, while a separate programme for youth and adults aged 16 and above will be conducted from 10.45 am to 12.15 pm.
Organisers said the initiative is intended to encourage wider participation in International Day of Yoga celebrations while promoting healthy lifestyles, mindfulness and overall wellbeing among people of all ages.
The event forms part of a broader calendar of activities being conducted across Australia in support of the global observance, which is celebrated annually on June 21.
This year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlights the role of yoga in supporting physical vitality, emotional balance and long-term wellness throughout life.
The Beecroft programme is expected to introduce participants to yoga’s practical benefits, including improved flexibility, relaxation, concentration and stress management, while fostering a stronger sense of community connection.
Organisers believe the family-oriented format will help make yoga more accessible and encourage greater engagement among younger participants and first-time practitioners.
Community members have been invited to register and join the event, which aims to celebrate the enduring relevance of yoga as a pathway to healthier living and a more balanced lifestyle.
The gathering will be among several International Day of Yoga events taking place across New South Wales, reflecting the continued growth of yoga and wellness initiatives within Australia’s multicultural communities.
