Sydney, June 12 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

The Indian Australian Association of South Australia (IAASA) Community Centre in Broadview will host a special International Day of Yoga programme on June 21 as part of celebrations being organised across Australia to mark the global observance.

The event is being presented by the Consulate General of India in Sydney and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Sydney, in collaboration with IAASA, and is expected to attract community members from across South Australia.

Scheduled from 10 am to 12 noon, the programme will provide participants with an opportunity to experience yoga in a community-focused environment that promotes health, mindfulness and overall wellbeing.

Organisers said the event forms part of a broader effort to encourage people from all walks of life to engage with yoga and discover its benefits for physical fitness, mental wellness and balanced living.

This year’s International Day of Yoga is being celebrated worldwide under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighting the importance of maintaining physical vitality and emotional wellbeing throughout life.

The Adelaide gathering will feature guided yoga activities aimed at helping participants improve flexibility, relaxation and mindfulness while fostering a spirit of inclusiveness and community participation.

Officials noted that yoga continues to gain popularity across Australia as more people embrace holistic approaches to health and wellness. Community-based events such as this provide an opportunity to introduce newcomers to the practice while bringing experienced practitioners together in celebration.

The programme also reflects the enduring appeal of yoga as a tradition that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries, connecting people through a shared commitment to healthy living.

Community members have been invited to register and take part in the event at the IAASA Community Centre, located at 6 Blamey Avenue, Broadview.

The celebration will be one of several activities taking place across the country as Australians join millions around the world in observing International Day of Yoga and recognising its contribution to personal wellbeing and community harmony.
