Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, recently undertook a wide-ranging visit to Mumbai, aimed at deepening Australia-India ties across government, business and cultural domains.
A key highlight of the visit was his meeting with Devendra Fadnavis, where invitations from three Australian state premiers were delivered, signalling growing momentum in sub-national cooperation between the two countries.
The High Commissioner also held discussions with leading industry figures, including N Chandrasekaran, focusing on opportunities in investment, critical minerals and technology as pillars of future economic collaboration.
Cultural engagement formed an important part of the visit, with the premiere of The Durga Chronicles, an Australian-led creative collaboration exploring gender empowerment through the arts.
Further strengthening development cooperation, a new partnership involving ANZ India and the Swades Foundation was announced to support solar energy and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) initiatives in rural Maharashtra under Australia’s Direct Aid Program.
The visit concluded with a “Team Australia” interaction bringing together representatives from government agencies and stakeholders, reflecting the expanding scope of Australia-India partnership across multiple sectors.
